This division procures water samples from 150 sites in the authority jurisdiction both in a wet and dry weather environment. These samples are analysis by a testing laboratory to ascertain the quality of water flows in the minor streams and creeks in the authority jurisdiction which is Jefferson, part of Shelby and part of St. Clair counties, Alabama.
This division inspects the approximately 3500 outfalls within the authority jurisdiction during dry weather to check for illicit connections to the system.
This division is the liaison for the Storm Water Management Authority with environmental groups such as the Alabama Water Watch, Alabama River Alliance, Cahaba River Society etc.
This division inspects businesses and industries within the authority jurisdiction that are not permitted by the Alabama Department Of Environmental Management to monitor the quality of water leaving these sites during a rain event.
This division handles complaints received by the Storm Water Management Authority concerning potential pollution problems either off the SWMA HOTLINE (943-5739) or by complaints from the public or governmental agencies.
This division assists both the education and GIS divisions of the Storm Water Management Authority in carrying the mission of this department. |
